Wow!! What an amazing end to our summer of reading here at the library! Congratulations to all the library kids who worked hard to fill up the pom pom jar to earn an ice cream party. And a HUGE thank you to firefighter Michael Norgang who was our stoeytime reader and showed the kids around the fire station, fire trucks and let them try on his turnout gear. Memories were definitely made! Another special thank you to Marge Sheridan for the pizza, which was an amazing addition to the ice cream party! The kids finished the evening by sliding down the little side hill on the empty pizza boxes. What fun we all had!! ![]()
Did you know in 2023 we had ~70 kids come to our programs? In 2024 numbers jumped to ~140 kids. And already this year we have had over 250!! Thank you to all the families who make our programs so fun to run 🙂 Rmember, you don’t have to be from Monroe to join in! ![]()
We will be moving our kids programming (story time and LEGO club) back to Saturdays at 10:30am, starting September 13th. We always look forward to seeing both familiar and new faces at the library, so come in and visit us!
Dont forget to come to the library tomorrow to celebrate the end of summer reading challenge with a special firefighter story hour, tour of the firehouse and fire trucks, and an ice cream party! This is a free event open to kids (and parents) of all ages and towns. Don’t worry if you can’t make it right at 4:30, it is ok to be late. 🙂 ![]()
We hope to see you there!! 🍦🔥 🚒 📖 ![]()
PS. This would be a great place to show off the new tie dye shirts that you create at TONIGHT’S event up at Gesner Park (happening 5-7pm)!
Mark your calendars for Tuesday, August 19th at 4:30 for our final summer celebration at the Monroe Community Library. We’ll start with a story read by one of our very own Monroe fire fighters, followed by a tour of the fire station and fire trucks. Then we’ll end with a well earned ice cream party! The kids really showed up this summer and have nearly filled up the reading challenge jar with pom poms. We have no doubt they’ll get it filled by the 19th! We hope to see you there!! 🔥🍦📖
